The Awards Committee finds and celebrates outstanding contributions across EBHO’s work — from research and clinical impact to education, public engagement and innovation. We run a range of awards, publish clear eligibility rules and timelines with each call, and pick winners whose work combines scientific quality with real-world benefit. The committee reviews nominations promptly and impartially, while declaring and managing any conflicts of interest.
1- Call for nominations: Published on EBHO channels with clear deadlines, required documents and award-specific criteria.
2- Initial screening: Administrative check for eligibility and completeness.
3- Expert review: Shortlisted nominations are reviewed by independent assessors and Committee members against published scoring rubrics (scientific merit, innovation, impact, equity and feasibility).
4- Panel deliberation: The Committee convenes to discuss top candidates, manage conflicts of interest, and reach a recommendation.
5- Approval & announcement: Recommendations are ratified by the Executive Committee as required and winners are publicly announced with citation texts and award logistics.
The nomination and selection process includes an open call, administrative screening, expert review using published scoring rubrics, panel deliberation, and final ratification. Decisions are documented and winners are announced with citation texts; where feasible, constructive feedback is offered to nominees. We follow a simple, transparent process: open call → admin check → expert review using published criteria → panel discussion → winner announcement.

Eligibility for each award is defined in the specific call and typically includes criteria such as affiliation with a European institution, demonstrable contribution within the field of brain health, and compliance with ethical standards. The Committee publishes award criteria, timelines and anonymised summary statistics on nominations and outcomes to promote transparency.
Decisions are guided by EBHO’s core values — integrity, collaboration, excellence, inclusivity and service — and by clear policies to avoid conflicts of interest.
