Purpose

The Travel Grants Committee expands equitable access to EBHO events by providing financial support that enables researchers, clinicians, trainees and patient advocates to attend conferences, workshops and EBHO-sponsored symposia. Our goal is to remove financial and structural barriers so that talent and ideas — not resources or geography — determine who participates in Europe’s brain-health community.

Our Principles

Grants prioritise applicants who will most benefit from the opportunity and whose participation strengthens diversity, equity and inclusion across EBHO activities. Priority considerations include: early-career researchers and clinicians, applicants from under-represented regions or low- and middle-income settings, those with documented financial need, candidates with disabilities or caring responsibilities, and applicants who demonstrate clear plans to share skills or knowledge locally after the event. All selection procedures are transparent, auditable and aligned with EBHO’s values.

What we fund

Typical awards may cover one or more of: conference registration, economy travel, accommodation, visa costs, modest per-diem or subsistence allowance, and childcare or carer costs where appropriate. The exact items and maximums are specified in each call. EBHO encourages applicants to seek value travel and to identify possible co-funding from host institutions or partners. Where possible we prioritise hybrid/virtual access options to reach applicants who cannot travel.
* Open calls, eligibility details, application forms, deadlines and award amounts are published on EBHO’s Events & Grants page.
